Put the CAHF on your gift list!
With Christmas just a few days away, the Companion Animal Health Fund (CAHF) can help you track down some final presents for those pet lovers, groomers, pet sitters and veterinarians on your gift list.
A gift to the CAHF means a great deal to companion animals as well as to students, faculty and staff at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM). The fund supports pet health research at the regional veterinary college and specialized training for graduate students whose research and clinical work focuses on pet health.
Established in 1978, the CAHF’s programs have helped to boost the quality of pet health care in veterinary clinics across Canada. Through its steady support of pilot studies, the CAHF has enabled WCVM researchers to contribute valuable findings in a number of areas including reconstructive surgery, orthopedic surgery, veterinary oncology, immunohistopathology (diagnostic testing), exercise-induced collapse syndrome and renal disease.
How can you give a gift to the CAHF? Visit the fund’s donation page to learn how you can give a gift online, by phone or by mail. If you would like a letter sent to your family members or friends to inform them of your donation, please contact the WCVM Development Office (306-966-7268 or wcvm.supportus@usask.ca) and let us help you organize your Christmas gift.
If you would like to honour the memory of a special pet or person who has died in the past year, the CAHF also has a memorial program that will help you celebrate the lives of people and companion animals that are no longer with us. Visit the CAHF memorial program for more information or read an article about the program.
Another option is the CAHF Equipment Wish List that includes various equipment options in a range of cost categories. Browse through the list and see if there’s a piece of equipment that you would like to help purchase for the veterinary college or please call 306-966-7450 for more information.
The CAHF also offers pet notecard sets that make great Christmas gifts or stocking stuffers. The 16-card sets, which feature images of cats or dogs, are available for $20 (includes taxes and shipping).
